Old Bronze Thai Temple Amulet
Growing up in Bangkok, Thailand, I became very interested
in Thai Buddhism. Over the years I developed a passion for the Amulet culture. Just about every Thai citizen has
a clay, bronze, silver or gold amulet for protection purposes (sometimes more than 1). These are usually worn as
pendants or often seen hanging in cars or tuk tuks. Many amulets are also displayed on home altar
tables.
Many of my friends are Buddhist and I learned a great deal about Thai Buddism and the protection
of Amulets from them. Also learned where to source these unique amulets.
Now settled and based in the
Lake District , I still have that same passion for Buddhist Amulets. Present day Bangkok is a modern functioning
capital city however I am still able to source these unique and special items. Many people say that you don’t actually own the Amulet but
you only borrow the buddha image and its protection.
These temple amulets orginate from various temples in Thailand.
Every amulet is different and will vary in age which makes them
very unique and exclusive.
Temple Amulets are sacred charms and are worn for their efficacious protection. After the
moulding process the amulet is put through a chanting ceremony, in order to give the wearer luck, good health and
prosperity. This ancient tradition is still part of Thai Buddhism today.
The amulets can be worn as a pendant or placed within your home, office or car.
Amulets are sacred charms and make unique gifts.
